The goal of this project was to redesign a piece of surgical equipment and implement the full design process in a period of only 4 weeks. My team identified a need, defined the problem, and generated concepts to modify a current mouth gag retractor on the market. After down-selection, Fusion 360 and 3D printing were used to model and prototype the solution. After creating the device, the iteration process was used to redesign the solution. Through this project I gained knowledge on the medical device industry, including how to design products that meet biomedical standards and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Attached is the final presentation, including a video of the Fusion360 prototype.
