01 About me
SARAH KURPIERS, CLASS OF 2021
Hello! My name is Sarah and I work at Stryker as a part of the Advanced Operations Global Engineering Development Program. I graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2021 with B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering, concentrated in Mechanical Engineering.
I am driven to advance healthcare through the application of my technical and interpersonal skills in customer-oriented, innovative environments. I hope to use my creativity, ability to see the big picture, and passion for improving the lives of others in a career which challenges me in hands-on, people-centric, and meaningful work.
I am passionate about product design and worked on two teams in the past year on such medical device design projects. This past summer, I had the opportunity to intern in Genentech’s Pharmaceutical Technical Development division. Here, I worked on an Innovation Team focused on finding digital transformation solutions for the department. My hybrid background allows me to understand scientific problems and goals and effectively translate them to code, digital, and product solutions.
On campus, along with my position as an undergraduate research assistant, I am involved in a professional biomedical engineering fraternity which allows me to participate in mentoring, networking, and professional development. In 2018, I was House Manager for my sorority. This was a role that put my organizational, leadership, and conflict resolution skills to the test.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, ski racing, attending sporting events, and building stronger connections with my friends and family. I am definitely a thrill seeker, but I also love to take a step back from the daily buzz and appreciate sunsets, bonfires, and a new flavor of ice cream.
